10-year Anniversary of the 9runrun First Responders Charity Race
The 9runrun event has helped raise awareness and funds for mental health initiatives in our community for a many years. Now in its 10th year, the funds raised by 9runrun participants and their donors, will support the Ottawa First Responders Foundation.
Mental health issues among police, firefighters and paramedics are an issue that must be addressed and talked about. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a frightening and increasingly common occurrence for first responders on the job. In fact, first responders are at least twice as likely to suffer PTSD compared to the general population. It can be devastating for those suffering from mental health issues when they do not have proper support. Adding to the issues is the stigma that still exists surrounding mental illness. We encourage you to participate in the event or consider donating to this very worthwhile cause.
